LOWA CLIMBING Team Henry Lorenz

An “early riser”

Henry Lorenz, who was born in 2005, is the youngest member of the LOWA CLIMBING Team. But he is hardly someone you would describe as a climbing neophyte. For five years now, he has been showing off his skills on the rock and in the hall. His passion for climbing has already taken Henry, who lives near Düsseldorf, many places. Since there are no mountains at home, he has primarily demonstrated his skills in a large number of competitions held in climbing halls across Germany. Nonetheless, he has also gained experience on the rock in the Franconian Jura region of northern Bavaria, the Harz Mountains of central Germany and the Eifel Mountains of western Germany. His crowning achievement thus far was the North Rhine-Westphalian State Championships in 2018, where he won competitions in bouldering, lead and the overall score in the C youth group. While living out his athletic adventures, Henry receives strong support from his family – particularly his mother and his sister Emma, who both share his passion for climbing. As a result, it’s hardly surprising that Henry lists a climbing holiday with his family on Tenerife as his personal climbing highlight. Henry is dedicated to giving his best. He draws much of his inspiration from his role model, the ever-cheerful Milan Sykora. Henry and his family even visit Milan in the Franconian Switzerland region of Bavaria on occasion. 2018 marks a new chapter in Henry’s athletic career: he is moving from the Kidscup to the German Youth Cup, where he plans to compete this year.
