Turns every landing into a pleasure.

Parachuting involves a range of different jumps from aeroplanes to introduce troops to areas of operation. Such missions can involve jumps made at low altitudes with round parachutes that open automatically or military freefalls with parafoils and occasionally heavy rucksacks. Parachuting places some special demands on footwear worn during such missions. Important features include closed hooks to prevent the hooks from becoming caught in suspension lines, good heel cushioning and a stable upper to prevent injuries during landing.

    • Stable upper
The stable upper design provides stability during landings.

    • Closed hooks
The closed hooks prevent them from becoming accidentally caught in parts of the parachute.

    • Good heel cushioning
Good heel cushioning reduces stress during landings.

    Your ideal partner.

Special missions are law enforcement operations conducted by tactical units on variable terrain for the purpose of fighting terrorism, rescuing hostages and enforcing arrest warrants. Footwear worn during special missions has particular features that enable it to meet the variable requirements of such operations in the best-possible way. These critical features include high agility created by moderate upper and sole rigidity, multidirectional soles for fast changes of direction and low weight for fast-paced missions.

    • High agility
The boot’s upper and sole stiffness do not limit the user and have been optimised for fast movements.

    • Multidirectional sole
The multidirectional sole provides the foot with the support it needs during fast movements without limiting manoeuvrability.

    • Lightweight
The lightweight design significantly increases the footwear’s dynamics.

    Descend safely.

Fast roping is a quicker technique than abseiling. Fast roping involves mission forces sliding down a rope from helicopters without using descenders. The method enables mission forces to land on ships and to be introduced to hard-to-reach terrain or developed areas. Because of the friction produced by rope sliding, the medial side of the boot must be equipped with heat protection. Similar to footwear worn during parachuting, the boots must have such special features as closed lace-up hooks and good heel cushioning to lessen the impact of landing.

    • Protected medial side of the boot
The protected medial side of the boot prevents premature wear and tear caused by sliding on a rope.

    • Closed hooks
The closed hooks prevent the footwear from getting caught in the rope during descent.

    • Good heel cushioning
The good heel cushioning lessens the force of the impact with the ground.

LOWA® CROSS DUTY Outsole with an optimal rubber compound

The Z-6S GTX Ws is equipped with a LOWA RUBBER OUTSOLE. Conceived by LOWA to meet the challenges of real-world use, the profile design is made from an optimised rubber compound. The result is a rubber outsole with good traction in the backcountry and off trail.

Optimised for fast-roping missions, the LOWA® CROSS DUTY is designed for both paved and unpaved terrain. It provides solid grip on a range of different surfaces with the help of its special profile design.

LOWA® CROSS DUTY

DOUBLE INJECTION Upper and sole become a fixed unit

To provide effective cushioning and improved comfort, the sole of the Z-6S GTX Ws is bonded to the upper in a technically demanding injection process. The upper boot is placed into a specially designed mould. Various layers of PU foam padding are then poured into it. In the process, the sole and upper are bonded together.

  • Lightweight
This process uses a plastic called polyurethane. It is a very lightweight foam padding.

  • Cushioning
The plastic called polyurethane is a foam padding that has very good cushioning properties. The plastic retains its form and springs back to its original condition even when its millions of tiny bubbles are frequently pressed together. This, in turn, creates a good rebound effect.

  • A wide range of design options
Thanks to direct injection, the sole can be designed in a very large number of ways. The multifaceted properties of the materials used enable the shoes to be effective in a broad number of areas.

WOMEN LAST Adapted to the anatomy of women’s feet

To ensure perfect fit, the lasts used for Z-6S GTX Ws have been specially designed with the anatomy of women’s feet in mind. The last plays a key role in the ultimate fit of a boot. Women’s feet have less volume than men’s feet. As a result, the instep height and the ball area of these lasts have been altered.

LOWA® CROSS DUTY

The fast-roping specialist. More …

An outsole designed by LOWA with an optimised rubber compound to provide good grip.

Midsole

100%
Polyurethane (PU)

Polyurethane (PU) is a soft plastic that has very good cushioning properties and is usually used in the midsole as a result. Through the use of PU, the soles become lightweight and functionally flexible.

Insole

Approx. 20%
Felt

Felt is a textile fabric that is made of disordered fibrous material that is difficult to separate. The textile fabric is characterised by its high elasticity and its insulating qualities. As a result, it is used in particular as a component in insoles and as an insulating divider.

Approx. 10%
Fabric

Our natural and synthetic fabrics facilitate optimal warming and moisture management with the help of their usage-specific characteristics. Thanks to their structural design, they are smooth and make our products extremely comfortable.

Approx. 70%
Polyethylene

Polyethylene is a semi-crystalline and non-polar thermoplastic resin that is, by far, the most widely used plastic in the world. Polyethylene is used in part as a component of man-made fibre/blended fabrics. It is used primarily to create comfort and insulate the foot from below.

Upper material

100%
Suede leather

Suede leather comes from the flesh side of the hide. It has a looser fibre structure, a quality that creates a velvety surface and a light pile. Suede leather is particularly durable and open-pored. Depending on the desired look, suede leather can remain untreated or be oiled or waxed.

Construction methods

Injected Construction

To create optimal cushioning and the very best comfort, the soles of LOWA multifunctional shoes are directly injected. The complex injection process attaches the slip-lasted upper directly to the sole. This method creates shoes that offer optimal cushioning and are particularly lightweight.
