THE MEDICAL SIDE OF HIKING

When you hear of a doctorate, you usually think of a doctor in a white coat with a serious face. Dr Micha Bahr is completely different. The paediatric surgeon and manual physician is dedicated to the health aspects and biomechanics of hiking and explains why it's not uncool to hike with poles and why low shoes are better left in the cupboard on many mountain tours.

Dr Micha Bahr is a specialist in paediatric surgery and manual medicine. He has been studying the subject of biomechanics for many years and has therefore already worked with various manufacturers such as Deuter and ABUS to develop equipment that is tailored to the special features of the musculoskeletal system. Micha Bahr spends a lot of time travelling in the mountains with his family and contributes his knowledge to numerous projects at LOWA.
