Rudi Hauser

PASSIONATE MOUNTAINEER IN SURFER LOOK

At first glance, you might not immediately associate Rudi Hauser with mountains and climbing due to his supposed "surfer look". But this is deceptive. In an interview with presenter Andi Christl, the passionate mountaineer talks about what the meaning of mountaineering is for him, how it changes over the years and whether the "feeling of something special" can also be addictive. Rudi also explains what influence media attention, for example via social media, has from his point of view and why he wouldn't describe mountaineering as romantic. Upcoming projects are also discussed in the latest podcast episode. Have fun listening in

  • GUEST: RUDI HAUSER

At first glance, Rudolf "Rudi" Hauser may not look like your typical mountaineer. However, when it comes to climbing at the latest, the Austrian-born climber's supposed "surfer look" can no longer hide his passion for the mountains. It is no coincidence that the extreme sportsman is one of the best professional climbers in Europe, who has made a name for himself with spectacular solo tours on rock and ice. Rudi Hauser discovered his passion for vertical sports relatively late at the age of 19. However, he quickly became a professional climber and mountaineer who, according to his own statement, is constantly inspired to top performances by the support of his family and private environment. The part-time carpenter celebrated one of his most spectacular successes to date with the solo ascent of the 270 metre high frozen waterfall "Supervisor" (WI6), one of the most difficult ice climbing routes in Austria. Naturally without hand loops and without the aid of technical equipment - in just 1 hour and 40 minutes. For orientation: the rope team of the first climbers in 1991 still needed a whole 8 hours! An achievement that testifies to the great physical and mental strength of the father of the family.
