Highest points in the Netherlands and Belgium: Keutenberg

De Vaalserberg is het hoogste punt van Nederland, maar de even verderop gelegen Keutenberg mag er ook zijn. With a height of 163 metres, this hill is also a must in the LOWA collection.

You start this walk at the station of Schin op Geul, but the route also loops through Valkenburg. If you want to stay overnight in this place, you can of course start the tour there.

A special point on the way is the Kluis op de Schaelsberg, often a cloister (hermitage), with a cruise path. From here to Valkenburg you have marvellous views over the countryside.

You doorkruist Valkenburg. If you have enough time, you can enjoy a lovely walk through the square, or take a wonderful break on one of the terraces. You follow the path along the signposted Geul, before taking an extra detour after Schin op Geul to the Keutenberg, the main destination of this tour. Then it's another three kilometres to the point where you started.
