From Kreuzeck to Stuibensee and up to the Bernadeinkopf

The hike to breathe in the mountain air. Lake Stuibensee is a turquoise-green mountain lake that could not be more beautiful. The cheeky Bernadeinkopf with its summit cross and fantastic view fits in perfectly. The hike from Kreuzeck to Bernadeinkopf is the puzzle piece in the huge range of hikes and tours on offer, combining challenging summit tours and easy hikes, popular routes and secluded landscapes. The hike described here can be perfectly combined with the other ascents on the Alpspitze: with the crossing of the Grieskarscharte (2,463 m) or an ascent of the Mauerschartenkopf (1,924 m).

Tour tip: With a bit of luck, you can observe a large number of chamois and even golden eagles or bearded vultures at the Stuibensee. Of course, only if you are quiet and the animals don't spot you first.

Ascent: Starting from the mountain station at Kreuzeck, you hike via the narrow Bernadeinsteig trail into the Gassental valley and from there along paths and tracks in a westerly direction to the Stuibensee lake. From here you can climb the 2,143 metre-high Bernadeinkopf. The last few metres to the summit are absolutely spectacular. The Bernadeinkopf breaks off to the north with a vertical wall!

Descent: The descent from the Bernadeinkopf can either follow the ascent route or take a direct route to the Alpspitzbahn mountain station. The north face climb is secured with a via ferrata and offers another adrenaline rush on the last few metres.
