Jetzendorf/Pfronten, 26 May 2025 - From 21 to 25 May 2025, the LOWA Trail Trophy celebrated an impressive premiere - with around 300 participants, spectacular stages through the mountains of the Allgäu and Tyrol, challenging conditions and an exceptionally positive response.
The four-day trail running event started in Pfronten (Allgäu) and led over challenging stages through the towns of Grän, Weissenbach am Lech and Reutte back to Pfronten. With distances of between 23 and 30 kilometres and alpine trails, some of which were secured by ropes, the course designed by race director Martin Hafenmair demanded everything from the participants: rain, snow and sometimes even mandatory helmets made for a real alpine trail adventure - and spectacular images.
In sporting terms, Matthias Reichert and Sonja Kinnert dominated the field of participants. Reichert prevailed in a thrilling duel against local hero Mario Koch. Third place went to LOWA trail racer Johannes Ostfalk. Sonja Kinnert won the women's race with four victories on the day, ahead of Julia Güthling and Maria Elisa Legelli. The LOWA Trail Racers also celebrated successes in the age groups: Sandra Saitner secured victory in the Women Masters category with a commanding stage performance.
In addition to the sporting highlights, excellent organisation, dedicated stage locations and culinary highlights - from Kaiserschmarrn pancakes to spinach dumplings - ensured consistently positive feedback.
LOWA CEO Alexander Nicolai did not miss the opportunity to run a few stages himself. Head of Marketing Ulf Michels drew an all-round positive conclusion: "It was a great, exciting competition in a spectacular landscape, paired with a very relaxed, familiar atmosphere and visibly cheerful athletes. We look forward to the next edition."
