SAFETY, APPRECIATION AND RESPECT

LOWA is fully committed to protecting, empowering and supporting people. At LOWA, everyone should feel welcome and valued, which is why we attach great importance to equal opportunities and anti-discrimination. As a traditional company that is closely interwoven with society, we want to make an active contribution to positive developments both inside and outside our own factory gates.

For us, an inclusive, safe working environment is just as much a part of this as the promotion of occupational health management. We also work with partners and athletes to help socially disadvantaged people around the world. In addition to monetary donations, we do the most obvious thing: we donate shoes.

According to international ISO standards

Three ISO certifications guarantee quality, safety and environmental protection. In order to anchor quality, safety and environmental protection in all business processes, LOWA is guided by internationally recognised ISO standards: ISO 9001 for a quality management system, ISO 14001 for an environmental management system and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety management.

The certifications ensure that economic, ecological and safety aspects are taken into account in every decision. With the three management systems at our main site and the aim of rolling these out further, the interplay between economic success and ecological and social responsibility is successful.

National and international social projects

Based on 100 years of tradition and regional roots in Upper Bavaria, we have developed entrepreneurial values. Building on these values, we support a wide range of social and cultural projects financially and through shoe donations. Our commitment ranges from helping local refugees in Jetzendorf and the forest climbing park to supporting the local football club. We also work with international initiatives such as Education for all e. V. and KENIAL e. V. global education and development projects.

A new school in Nepal

In September 2013, it was clear that the school in the small village of Sangachok in the Sindhupalchok district of Nepal was dilapidated. Members of the village approached Nepalhilfe Beilngries with a request for support Nepalhilfe Beilngries e. V. with a request for support. When LOWA heard about this, we donated 75,000 euros for the construction of a new school and for teaching materials. Two years later, the Shree Namuna Janasewa Lower Secondary School was able to open. Further construction work followed. in 2019, the school was given a playground and computer rooms. Now 460 boys and girls study there.

  • LOWA tree planting campaigns

It is often our employees themselves who contribute specific ideas. These include joint tree planting campaigns.

LOWA employees have been involved in reforestation projects since 2001. Every year, they spend a weekend in autumn planting around 550 young trees, including beech, larch and fir, in the Bavarian mountain forests and on slopes. The soil conditions are often difficult, so full commitment is required. LOWA honours this commitment and covers all the costs for the annual campaigns.
