Höllentalklamm and the Hupfleitenjoch to the Kreuzeck

This scenic and extremely varied mountain hike in the heart of the Wetterstein mountain range is considered one of the most beautiful mountain tours in the Bavarian Alps. After starting at the Grainau Kurhaus, the tour first leads through the impressive and original Höllentalklamm gorge to the Höllentalangerhütte (1387 m) and then reaches the highest point at the Hupfleitenjoch (1750 m) via a rocky path, from where a unique panorama opens up with the Waxenstein ridge, the Zugspitze including the Höllentalferner and the famous Jubiläumsgrat. The final section is the short descent to the Kreuzeck with a refreshment stop at the Kreuzeckhaus (1651 m). The easiest way to descend from the Kreuzeck is to take the Kreuzeckbahn cable car into the valley and from there the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn cable car back to the starting point.
