The Glacier View circular hiking trail is a day tour of medium difficulty. The start and end points are at the Hemmersuppenalm. There are wonderful views of the Hohe Tauern glacier, Lake Chiemsee, Wendelstein and many other impressive landscapes. The circular tour is just over 14 kilometres long and takes 5 ½ hours to complete, with various refreshment stops at the Hindenburghütte, Sulznerkaser and Straubinger Haus. Sturdy shoes and hiking clothing are recommended.
Follow the hiking trail to Pflegereck through beautiful mixed mountain forest. From Pflegereck, the trail leads to the Durchkaser Alpine pastures in the next climatic zone, through the larch forest, the mountain pine zone and into the high Alpine pasture. From the Durchkaser alpine pastures on the way to the Eggenalm, the hike leads to a panoramic balcony - to the south the glaciers of the Hohe Tauern (Großglockner/Großvenediger), to the north the view of the Chiemsee/Wendelstein and to the east the view of the Berchtesgaden mountains and Steinernes Meer. Passing the Eggenalm, the route finally heads east back to the starting point.
