Walter has always had a passion for a wide variety of sports - but the simplicity of running and his love of the mountains eventually led him to mountain running and trail running. Originally from idyllic Appenzell, he has lived in Fontnas in the canton of St. Gallen for 14 years. His youth, which he often spent in the summer with his family in the Alps, certainly helped to ignite his passion for trail running.
Walter measures success not only by good results, but also by the fact that he was able to give everything he trained for. Although he has yet to experience the perfect competition, he is proud of his three victories at the Adamello 100k, the Scenic Trail 113k and his tenth place at the World Championships in Innsbruck. These successes are testament to his dedication and tireless commitment to the sport.
Walter has a special tip for anyone looking for a recommended tour or running route: the Vaduz Planken three sisters, Kugrat, Fürstensteing and Älplispitz Vaduz. This route offers everything a trail runner's heart desires - from breathtaking views to challenging passages.
