The second year of the event was also a complete success for LOWA as the main and name sponsor of the Madrisa Trail Klosters presented by LOWA. The doubling of the number of participants alone speaks for itself and for an all-round successful race on spectacular trails in the heart of the Swiss canton of GraubĂĽnden. A feast for all fans of alpine trail running!
Successful second event year
The Madrisa Trail Klosters 2023 presented by LOWA has already more than lived up to its reputation as one of the most spectacular trail running competitions in the German-speaking world. In the second year of the event, the event team and LOWA as the main sponsor can look back on record participation with completely enthusiastic runners. After all, the number of registrations more than doubled compared to the previous year with 815 participants. This also makes Christian Zingg, CEO of LOWA Switzerland, proud: "This is the right run for our shoes. With the Madrisa Trail this year, we were able to ensure visibility as a brand in the trail running sector at an international level and also authentically radiate the ATR by LOWA spirit." Zingg himself successfully completed the T33, joined by several other LOWA employees.
LOWA TRAIL RACERS team strongly represented once again
As in 2023, numerous LOWA TRAIL RACERS athletes took to the start line again this year. Sandra Saitner, who took on the T54 this year and finished third in the MASTER WOMEN category, was delighted:
"The event is super professionally organised, has become a real event tip in the scene and still has a family atmosphere. I love trail events that have retained this atmosphere. That makes the Madrisa Trail an absolute must-join event for me. I don't yet know which route I want to tackle next year, but one thing is certain: I definitely want to be there again!"
- Sandra Saitner | LOWA TRAIL RACERS Team
Selina Bebi also lined up at the start of the T33 this year, securing first place in the WOMEN category and summarising happily at the finish line:
"What particularly appeals to me about the Madrisa Trail are the varied trails through the beautiful mountain landscape. This makes the competition a perfect mix of sporting challenge and pure enjoyment. And if you end up on the podium at the end, that's even better."

Route extension and new expo location
With four different distances for the first time, there was the right challenge for all trail runners. In addition to the familiar T24 and T54 trails, two new routes were added to the portfolio this year: T11 and T33. The T11 impressed as a short, 11-kilometre run with great views over Klosters, which particularly appeals to trail running beginners. On the T33, technical skills in alpine terrain were required. There was never a dull moment on the varied route, which is 90 per cent trail. A breathtaking view awaited the runners, especially at the highest point of the route - the Rätschenjoch. The tried-and-tested T24 once again scored points with a varied 360-degree panoramic trail with a total of three suspension bridges. For those looking for a trail running challenge, the T54 was the right choice. The longest distance once again marked the supreme discipline of the Madrisa Trail and led participants over 4,000 metres in altitude and four peaks up to the Rätschenhorn against a spectacular backdrop and fantastic panorama.
In addition to the route update, the start and finish area was moved to the centre of Klosters on the Bahnhofplatz for the first time this year, taking the event to a new dimension. The new, more central location scored particularly well thanks to the short distances, proximity to the train station and the town centre of Klosters. The expo with well-known partners and brands, local food stands and the bouncy castle invited participants and guests young and old to join in the excitement and linger.
Save the date: Madrisa Trail 2025 presented by LOWA
Trail fans should make a note of 8 and 9 August 2025 so that they can take part again next year. The registration window opens at the end of October 2024. "I am sure that next year we will once again see such strong growth and popularity for the Madrisa Trail 2025 presented by LOWA. The strong partnership, previous experience and, of course, the magnificent Swiss mountain scenery are promising guarantees," says Alex Nicolai, CEO of the international LOWA Group.
