The Hindelanger via ferrata is a day tour that can be categorised as somewhat more challenging and difficult (difficulty level: C, 1-). A head for heights, sure-footedness, good physical condition and the right equipment (sturdy footwear, equipment for the via ferrata) are essential. You should also only set off here when conditions are dry.
The most common route leads from the Nebelhorn to the Big Thumb with a final descent to Hinterstein. You can also walk from Hinterstein via Breitenberg to the Nebelhorn (total length: 15 km).
By the way: the Hindelanger via ferrata is also ideal for a Climb&Fly adventure. That's exactly what our blog partner ulligunde did in spring.
She chose Hinterstein as the starting point for the tour. She then paraglided back down from the Nebelhorn. Sounds good? - But it's easier planned than actually realised. As most visitors to the Hindelanger via ferrata start at the Nebelhorn, ulligunde decided to start her tour in the middle of the night in order to avoid the traffic as much as possible on the opposite route and arrive at the Nebelhorn in the morning. The tour therefore started in the moonlight and the 15-kilometre route was initially covered in the dark..
After some tiring and exhausting hours through the black night, we finally arrived at the Nebelhorn shortly before 9am. Was everything going to run smoothly now?
The windsock was blowing through the air - so the conditions promised good things. So: paragliders out of the rucksack, prepare everything and concentrate again. And off we went: We flew through the air over the small and big thumbs back to the starting point. Surrounded by the beautiful Allgäu panorama.
