Kampenwand, circular route mountain station

On this tour, you don't climb to the summit, but instead circle the Kampenwand massif on a mountain path with great views. From the mountain station, trail no. 20 on the left leads up a short ascent past the SonnenAlm to the devotional cross. It is worth making a short detour to the cross to admire the magnificent view of Lake Chiemsee and its islands. From there, the route continues along the panoramic trail on the northern flank of the Kampenwand massif towards Steinling Alm.

At the Steinling Alm, the circular route turns left downhill on the forest road towards Aschau. Above the Schlechtenbergalm, the hiking trail for the ascent to the mountain station branches off to the left (marked as a LOWA test route). This is where the more challenging part of the circular route begins, which requires more stamina and is a little steeper over a short distance. After a few minutes' walk along the narrow path, signs point the way further into the forest towards the mountain station. After crossing the short section of forest, you are immediately rewarded with a wonderful view of the Priental valley and follow the path to the left past the Möslarn Alm back to the mountain station and SonnenAlm.
