From Marienthal Monastery, the route climbs steadily towards Racksen. Via the "Weltende" path, which is of high climbing quality, you reach the Spitzen Ley with a view of Stein-Wingert and continue to Heimborn to the confluence of the Großer and Kleiner Nister rivers. Always following the Nister, you reach the medieval roof slate mine on the Assberg via Heuzert and Astert after a steep climb over steps. You soon reach Limbach via the Hohe Ley and along the Nister. From here, the route continues along the Kleine Nister via Streithausen to Marienstatt Abbey. On the way to the village of Nister, you pass the Nistermühle, which served as Konrad Adenauer's hiding place during the Nazi era. In Nister, the ascent begins in the second Holzbach gorge of the WesterwaldSteig trail. Steep steps lead up to Hachenburg with its castle and landscape museum.
