Highest points in the Netherlands and Belgium: Amerongse

The Netherlands and Belgium are not known for their high mountains. Nevertheless, you can make quite a few metres in altitude there. At least if you look closely. That's why you're joining us in this 'Altimeters Collection' in search of altitude metres in the Netherlands. We did one of the tours - around the Amerongse Berg - together with the Thru-hiking Community. Like the other tours, this is an ideal area to train for the next long-distance hike or hut tour in the mountains.

Thru-hiking: "In search of altitude metres in the Netherlands! In our backyard - the Utrechtse Heuvelrug - we set out with LOWA Benelux to make some altimeters. At least by Dutch standards, of course.

From Amerongen Castle, you can make a nice loop over two peaks: the Amerongseberg and the Elsterberg. You walk along narrow forest paths and climb a few hills here and there. Along the way, you will pass a beautiful viewpoint and can easily extend or shorten the route.

An ideal area to train for your next long-distance hike or hut tour. We have already walked in our LOWA RENEGADES for the next hike. If you include the viewpoint (which runs along the route) and climb a small hill here and there, you can do more than 230 metres in altitude.
