The Dutch Mountain Trail was created on the occasion of the Dutch Mountain Film Festival and in the tradition of the anniversary trails in the Alps.
It may not be the longest, but it is the toughest hiking trail in the Netherlands and can even compete with a serious hike in the real mountains. It is a tough 101 kilometre hike that connects the Seven Summits. The route consists of four sections, during which you can see no fewer than seven mountain peaks.
It runs from Eygelshoven station (Kerkrade) to Maastricht station along a route where the real mountain feeling is never far away. Fast-flowing streams, (alpine) meadows, rock faces and, of course, spectacular views: They will challenge and inspire you on this route.
Please note that this route is not signposted. However, a special brochure is available at the Visit Zuid-Limburg shops and service points. More information about the route can be found at www.visitzuidlimburg.nl/
