The special Vibram rubber compound remains grippy in all weather conditions, offering good grip even in wet conditions. Thanks to its distinctive tread pattern, it is designed for versatile terrain, from forest paths to steep root terrain.

The approach is the route from the starting point (e.g. car park, bus stop, valley station or hut) to the start of the actual mountain or climbing route. This route often crosses a wide variety of terrain - from mountain meadows to scree - so good footwear is a must.

Hiking boots are often lighter and more flexible than trekking boots. The more robust construction of trekking shoes is designed for torsional stability and precision, which are particularly important on unpaved paths. However, new technologies are also making trekking shoes lighter and lighter, so that they are in no way inferior to their hiking siblings in terms of comfort.

Every shoe has its area of use, but this does not make them better or worse. Ankle-high shoes are better suited to demanding terrain and longer tours, as they offer more stability around the ankle. Low shoes are lighter and are therefore ideal for fast tours with light luggage.
