Re-Frame: Rethinking Sustainability

Nature is more than the backdrop to our products. It is where the moments people associate with LOWA come to life: a run through the forest, a walk with the dog, a first hike of the summer, the feeling of freedom on a mountain peak.

For more than 100 years, we have been developing and manufacturing products for people who enjoy the outdoors. This creates a clear responsibility for us: to integrate environmental, social, and economic considerations into everything we do.

With Re-Frame, we bring our sustainability activities together under one shared framework. The name reflects our commitment to questioning established practices, embracing new perspectives, and making decisions with a long-term view.

  • We do not see sustainability as a destination on a map. It is a journey, a long hike that we take step by step. With every stage, we gain new insights, set new priorities, and further develop our measures. In doing so, we create the foundation for taking responsibility today while ensuring that future generations can continue to feel at home outdoors.

Sustainability with a System

For us, taking responsibility means focusing on where we can have the greatest impact. That is why we conducted a double materiality assessment to understand how our business activities affect people and the environment, and which sustainability topics are particularly relevant for our future.

Together with experts from our specialist departments in Germany, Italy, and Slovakia, we analysed the entire value chain and identified key impacts, opportunities, and risks.

The result is four areas of action where we see the greatest potential to drive sustainable development:

  • Products

  • Supply Chain

  • Environment & Climate

  • People & Company

These four areas form the foundation of Re-Frame, our sustainability strategy.

Guided by International Standards

Through our four areas of action, we contribute directly to eight of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition to the SDGs, we are guided by the sustainability activities of our parent company, the Tecnica Group. As a signatory of the UN Global Compact, the Tecnica Group is committed to internationally recognized principles for responsible and sustainable business conduct.
