Growing up in Brig, surrounded by mountains, Ramona did not climb any major peaks as a child. However, the local mountain, the "Glishorn", was often climbed. Ramona's favourite pastime was skiing. When she gave up this hobby, Ramona began to discover the mountains with great passion.

She found her first major adventures in Chamonix. Climbing trips to the Lofoten Islands, South America, Patagonia and an expedition to Kyrgyzstan soon followed. "My favourite part of every tour is climbing a peak that is unknown to me," says Ramona. She is able to pass on her passion to young people as a leader in the SAC and has now turned her hobby into a career as a mountain guide.
