Table Rock State Park

The picturesque Table Rock Park on the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains is just a stone's throw (approx. 46 km) from Greenville. The shortest route to the summit of Table Rock Mountain is the Table Rock Trail, which starts at the Pinnacle Lake Nature Centre. The first few metres take you upstream through idyllic forests dotted with rhododendrons. In the right month, a magical jungle in white bloom. The first rock formations and small waterfalls are not long in coming either. Oaks and walnut trees dominate alongside scattered pines and hemlocks. After turning round at Panther Gap, we reach Governor's Rock, where our legs start to get tired. As compensation, there is one of the first large rock outcrops, which offers a view of the eternally green, gentle mountain landscape. The highest point is reached after three to four hours of walking and a distance of around 12 kilometres. If you go a few steps further, you can take a break on the north-eastern cliff face and enjoy the view of the Table Rock reservoir alongside circling birds of prey.
