The Jörriseen are among my favourite mountain lakes and are truly some of the most unique mountain lakes in Switzerland. This group of many different sized lakes, with almost unnatural colours (not so impressive here in the picture) make this place something really special. You might get the feeling when you see the pictures that this is a winter hike. However, the pictures were actually taken in autumn. I find photographing the mountain lakes in these conditions, with snow but not yet frozen over, particularly beautiful. It usually involves a bit of luck, but you also have to try to catch the right moment. The best chance of catching these conditions is in late autumn. This picture was taken on a cool October morning. The hike to these impressive lakes is not too long, easy to walk and not dangerous. Of course, the path to the lakes is already very beautiful, with good views over the Flüela Pass and the surrounding mountains. But to call the path the goal of this hike would certainly be an exaggeration. But that changes as soon as you reach the highest point of the trail, the Jöriflüelafurg. As if out of nowhere, the turquoise blue Jöriseen lakes appear on the other side of the path, almost surreal. One of the most beautiful views over the Jöriseen, in my opinion. Of course, it's well worth walking the 230 metres in altitude down to the lakes and taking a closer look at the different coloured lakes. You immerse yourself in another world, a world surrounded by some spectacular mountains such as the Jörihorn (2844 metres above sea level) or the Flüela Wisshorn (3085 metres above sea level) and almost forget to tackle the way back in good time.
