  • Then it was time for a change and he followed his passion - off-piste skiing, powder snow and jumps. His parents were not so happy at first, but soon changed their minds when they saw how talented Roman was. He soon got his first sponsorship contracts under his belt.

Roman took part in the Freeride Rookie Tour for the first two years before the Freeride World Tour was developed. When he had had enough of competitions, he decided to concentrate on photo and film shoots and only on freeskiing.

In recent years, he has contributed to numerous ski films with almost every major production company in the world - including Warren Miller Entertainment USA, Nimbusindependent.com USA, Midiafilm and ServusTV.

Roman loves travelling, but he is always happy to be home to see his family and friends and of course to enjoy nature. Being outdoors is his favourite thing to do. In summer either on his bike, on his surfboard or climbing, hiking or hunting.

Roman Rohrmooser,

WHAT MAKES MOUNTAIN SPORTS FASCINATING FOR YOU?
"I'm particularly fascinated by the freedom, the peace and quiet and the opportunity to get out into nature and simply switch off. It's also important for me to know that I'm travelling with the best products and that I can rely on them."

HOW IMPORTANT IS PORT TO YOUR LIFE RIGHT NOW?
"Let me put it this way: when I'm at home for two days, everyone is happy when I get out and do sport again. But the birth of my daughter four years ago has of course changed a lot, especially in terms of time management. Basically, though, I still feel that I was able to turn my hobby into a career with sport and it's definitely a big part of my life. However, my family generally enjoys sport and I couldn't imagine it any other way. If I can't get out into the fresh air or exercise for a long time, I'm often in a bad mood."

WHAT WOULD A PERFECT DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?
"A perfect day ... a quiet night where I'm not woken up all the time. Then out early in the morning, ideally to stand on top of a mountain at sunrise and enjoy the first rays of sunshine. Then be back home for breakfast. Then just go about my daily routine, spend time with my family or do some mundane office work. Otherwise, just spend the whole day on the mountain with family and friends. Whether in deep snow, hiking, climbing or in the air."

WHICH THREE THINGS DO YOU THINK AN ALPINIST OR HIKER SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE IN THE BACKPACK?
"An emergency kit or first aid pack. A mobile phone with a full battery would also be good. And the third thing would simply be to have fun and enjoy being outdoors and appreciate it all."
