Paul Klima

Paul Klima has been fascinated by the "kings of the skies" since his youth. Born in Altmühltal, he began working with birds of prey at the age of 13 and soon after became "Germany's youngest falconer". Since then, he has been working with falcons, eagles, owls and the like in his falconry and also runs a film animal school.

He recently moved with his animals from Lenggries at the foot of the Brauneck to the Staubachhof in the municipality of Dietramszell. A new start after the lease expired at the old falconry. In addition to regular training at the film animal school, the feathered TV stars and the everyday life of a falconer can now be experienced up close on "experience days".

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR HIGHLIGHT WITH THE BIRDS TO DATE?
"Without thinking twice: the flights of my eagles from the three thousand metre peaks in the Dolomites and the Ortler region. When you stand there at over three thousand metres, all alone and watch your eagle fly - and then it comes flying towards you through the last rays of the sunset to land with you..."

WHAT IS A WORKING DAY LIKE FOR YOU7EUCH?
"I train with my birds at the Falkenhof every day in summer. The mountains in the Isarwinkel provide the perfect base for this - good flying conditions, so to speak. Of course, I also have to take care of the daily animal care tasks. I am often accompanied by adventure customers. Unfortunately, I can't just hang around outside (even though I'd like to), there's also a lot of office work and answering emails. But then I'm compensated all the more by the days spent filming with my eagles and the EagleCam in the mountains."
