LOWA PRO TEAM
At first glance, Rudolf "Rudi" Hauser may not look like your typical mountaineer. However, when it comes to climbing at the latest, the Austrian-born climber's supposed "surfer look" can no longer hide his passion for the mountains. It is no coincidence that the extreme sportsman is one of the best professional climbers in Europe, who has made a name for himself with spectacular solo tours on rock and ice.
The part-time carpenter celebrated one of his most spectacular successes to date with the solo ascent of the 270 metre high frozen waterfall "Supervisor" (WI6), one of the most difficult ice climbing routes in Austria. Naturally without hand loops and without the aid of technical equipment - in just 1 hour and 40 minutes. For orientation: the rope team of the first climbers in 1991 still needed a whole 8 hours! An achievement that testifies to the great physical and mental strength of the father of the family.
FACTS & DATA
RUDI HAUSER,
HOW HAVE THE MOUNTAINS CHANGED YOUR LIFE?
"The mountains have always been part of my life. I grew up surrounded by the Alps with my ancestors as role models. So the question was never whether I would take up the sport, but rather how I would become stronger through experience and adventure."
WHAT WAS YOUR BEST TOUR AND WHY?
"The adventure of my life so far was a free solo climb of two 1,000m high grade walls in 11 hours - connected by a 21km run. I simply wanted to face my biggest fear with all its consequences."
