In the winter months, the human body often needs more sleep and rest to recharge its energy levels. What is often referred to as "winter fatigue" is a logical and understandable process due to the lack of sun and the shorter days. It is therefore important that you listen to your body and allow it to take these breaks. This is the only way you will be able to perform and feel productive in the long term. At this point, there is no point in compulsively resisting your body's signals. Because sooner or later it will get what it needs.
A diverse selection of delicious snacks, adverse weather conditions and less daylight - there are several reasons why it is often easy to cosy up on the couch during the winter months. But when it comes to fitness and stamina, lazing around is unfortunately not particularly beneficial. That's why we want to give you a little support in this area and have put together some tips to help you stay fit through the winter.
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY:
GET ENOUGH SLEEP AND REST
BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET RUSTY
ENOUGH EXERCISE EVEN IN THE COLD SEASON
Especially in winter, we often feel a little tired and after a long day at work or school, we usually can't motivate ourselves to get going with sport. A targeted sports programme or a planned jogging session - these plans usually end with an evening on the couch watching your favourite series. Of course, sufficient exercise and sport is also extremely important in winter. To make sure you stick to them even in winter, it's important to establish fixed routines and then stick to them. You should also set yourself realistic goals and remain patient when pursuing them.
THINK ABOUT THE RIGHT CLOTHES
PROTECT YOURSELF AS BEST YOU CAN AGAINST A COLD OR FLU
If you spend time outside in temperatures around freezing point or even do sport, you should of course make sure you have the right clothing. Otherwise, you can quickly catch a cold or even the flu. To prevent this, you should not dress too cold or too warm. The so-called "onion principle" is ideal for this. This means wearing several layers of clothing, often made of different materials. This allows you to react flexibly to changing temperatures at any time. If it is warmer than expected after a short walk, you can simply remove one of the layers. Sweaty bodies are susceptible to viruses and you can get sick more quickly.
MAKE SURE YOU EAT THE RIGHT FOOD
GOOD AND BALANCED FOOD ON COLD DAYS
A healthy and balanced diet is of course important all year round. But our immune system is under particular strain in winter. Nutrition is a crucial and important factor in preventing a nasty cold or flu. At this point, there are of course a number of points of view and behaviours. However, vitamins and minerals are particularly important for the human organism at this time of year. Of course, you can also indulge yourself once in a while. But when it comes to sweets and fast food, it's better to eat in moderation than in bulk!
Our tip:
In addition to various fruit and vegetables, cabbage is a great food for cold winter days. Available in different varieties and rich in fibre and vitamins, this food is a real treat for your body.
VITAMIN D FOR YOUR BODY
GET ENOUGH LIGHT AND SUN
In winter, the sun only appears for a short time, if at all. For most of the day, it is mainly dull and dark. It is therefore all the more important to make active use of the few hours of sunshine. One way to do this is to take a short walk during your lunch break or at the weekend. This daylight and sunlight will do your body noticeably good and will have a noticeably positive effect after a short time.
