01.09.2019 | Ice crystals as far as the eye can see - when waterfalls form metre-high ice towers in winter, alpinists' hearts beat faster. Ice climbing is fascinating and a discipline in its own right. At the LOWA testing event in Kolm-Saigurn, everything centred on the finer points of this climbing discipline.
Despite the pouring rain, we headed straight to the training walls, up to the waterfalls or into the mixed terrain. The shoes were subjected to an absolute endurance test - above all the waterproofness had to prove itself. Tips and tricks were eagerly exchanged and the first important insights gained. In the hut afterwards, there was a lot of talking shop about lacing, heel fit, gaiters, crampon positions, lightweight construction and soles. The pros shared their experiences with the new boots and provided valuable input for the LOWA development department.
